Thank you all for your kind words and letters.  For those of you wondering what happened to Miracle I apologize but it has taken me a while to be able to write this.  She was only nine months old but in that time she taught more about horses and the possibility of a connection between horses and humans than any horse I have ever known.  You see she had a very rough beginning, her mother was struck with EPM while she was six months pregnant she suffered ataxia and was down for several day but we were able to save her.  She was able to live comfortably and carry her foal to term and with our help she was able to deliver Miracle.  Miracle was a red bag delivery and was a dummy foal.  She also had Septicemia.  She was the tinniest little thing, for the first two days of her life I had to hold her up and help her nurse.  The Vet’s had their doubts that she would live or if she did ever be normal.  But after a few days something clicked and she began to move around on her funny little legs.  When I spoke to her and called her name she would squeal in her funny little voice.  She had the strongest strength of spirit.  Then a month after she was born Gypsy her mother started to relapse, again we tried hard to save her and in the end we were not able to.  So we were left with her beautiful lonely little filly and a promise to take care of her.  We nursed her and loved her and watched a myriad of emotions on her after loosing her mother, luckily we were able to find her another “mother” within our herd.  Diamond out 23 old Arabian mare gave Miracle her space and allowed her time to grieve, but when it came time for a final good buy, Diamond (literally) spoke to her and Miracle followed.  From then on Diamond never left her side, she taught her how to run and play which Gypsy was never able to do and she taught her how to be a horse.  But even still Miracle never lost her love for people,  I would just go sit down in the pasture and no matter where she was she would run to me and rest her head on my shoulder.  When the kids came to the barn she would either stand or lie in her stall and let them brush her for hours.  She was so patient and kind for a baby.  She grew into a beautiful young horse.  And a cruel twist of fate dealt us another blow, she had an unfortunate accident which left a cut in her leg, we had her stitched up and had all the necessary shots and still she contracted Tetanus.  She faced her treatment with gentleness and dignity and in the end it was not her that gave up, but us, hoping to spare her from any suffering.

Meet our one and only 2006 foal.  Due to unfortunate circumstances we were only able to breed one mare (Gypsy) in 2005.  At 2:00 am on Friday February 3rd Gypsy graced us with a beautiful Buckskin filly.  Her name is Larks Gypsy Soul.  She is incredible and I think she's a good sign of better things to come in 2006!  We call her Miracle.

Update: Unfortunately we lost Miracle's Dam Gypsy on March 16, 2006.  She is now being raised by Diamond our older Arabian mare.  They have both adapted nicely to the arrangement and seem to care for each other very much.

We are so pleased with Dash to the Moon we have decided to keep him as our future herd sire!

We have carefully selected several mares and fillies, which we will begin breeding to him in 2006.  We are very excited to see how he develops; he is already showing loads of potential.  He is a gorgeous mover and has a fantastic disposition.  He was born on August 15, 2003 and he is a heartbreaker.  He is a sorrel overo, with a bald face, one blue eye and four high white stockings.  He is a big colt, nice and strong with good balance.  He has an excellent head and neck.  His sire, Slick Shadow (photo shown on pedigree page) is a barrel racer and has a strong racing background.   His grandsire is One Slick One had 7 wins, totaling $157,937 RC and was the '92 Superior RC Horse.   His great grandsire is Dash for Cash was 2-time World Champion, 4-time Champion Race Horse and in the AQHA Hall of Fame.  His dam Tequilas Queen JMD is a loud black and white overo.  She has a very gentle nature and is a great pleasure and trail horse.  Both sire and dam are tall so Kirby will have height as well as lots of muscle.

Well, our 2004 foaling season was a sucess, we have three healty foals and 100% color to boot.  We consider ourselves very lucky.  We would like to thank those who helped make it possible.  Our veterinarian, Tye Ardrey, D.V.M., the Stallion owners Connie Hastings and Jason Upton, whose help and advice made things easier for us and of course, my wonderful husband who helped build foaling stalls and improve the facilities.
